For the collector who values what a watch is rather than what its marketing communicates, Girard-Perregaux delivers a price-to-finish ratio that is genuinely difficult to find elsewhere in haute horology. A steel Laureato in 38mm with an in-house calibre 4500 movement, full Geneva-tradition finishing, and a clous-de-Paris hobnail dial trades in the $7,500 to $10,000 band on the pre-owned market. The 42mm is the largest standard Laureato, used for the green clous-de-Paris dial (81010-11-3153-1CM) at $7,800, the blue dial (81010-11-431-11A) at $7,490 to $7,690, and the black ceramic 81010-32-631-32A at $13,490. At the upper end of the line, the Laureato Skeleton Ceramic 81015-32-001-32A in 42mm openworked dial trades at $31,800 and represents the most architecturally ambitious expression of the Laureato design language. The Laureato Absolute "Gold Fever" Limited Edition at $9,250 sits in the more aggressive Absolute sub-line with darker case finishing and gold accents.

What separates Girard-Perregaux at the movement level

Three things distinguish Girard-Perregaux from the integrated-bracelet luxury sports watch competition.

First, the manufacture is fully integrated. Calibres 4500 (time and date), GP03300 (chronograph), and the specialty calibres used in the haute horology references (Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges, Constant Escapement, Quasar) are all developed and produced at the Girard-Perregaux facility in La Chaux-de-Fonds. No movement is sourced from Sellita, ETA, or any external supplier. The Royal Oak and Nautilus integrated sports watch competitors share this characteristic. The Vacheron Overseas shares it. Buying pre-owned Girard-Perregaux

The pre-owned Girard-Perregaux market in the United States is thinner than the major brands, which means a few practical things for buyers.
