Parmigiani Fleurier

Parmigiani Fleurier is the youngest of the Vallée de Joux haute horology houses: founded in 1996 by Michel Parmigiani, vertically integrated through the Sandoz Family Foundation, producing fewer than 2,500 watches a year. Honeyrock's selection focuses on the Tonda PF and Tonda GT lines, including the Skeleton Slate Green and Micro-Rotor Pacific Blue limited editions, with the Yoshida 1-of-100. Every piece authenticated in-hand by our physician-led vetting team.

About Parmigiani Fleurier

The Parmigiani Fleurier lines that matter

Michel Parmigiani founded the maison in 1996 in Fleurier, Switzerland, after two decades restoring historical pieces for the Sandoz Family Foundation. The Sandoz Foundation acquired the brand in the early 2000s and built the supporting infrastructure: Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier (movements), Atokalpa (regulating organs and screws), Elwin (precision components), Quadrance et Habillage (dials), and Les Artisans Boîtiers (cases). The result is one of the few genuinely vertically integrated haute horology manufactures, producing fewer than 2,500 watches a year.

The Tonda family is the round-cased core of the catalogue. The original Tonda series introduced the maison's design language: knurled crown, lugs that curve to wrap the wrist, and dial textures applied at Quadrance et Habillage. The Tonda Annual Calendar Chronograph extends this with a column-wheel chronograph and annual calendar complication.

The Tonda PF, introduced in 2021, is the modern redesign that repositioned the brand. The case shape, knurled bezel, hidden lugs, and integrated bracelet (or strap) reference 1970s sport-luxury design language while remaining distinctly Parmigiani. The Tonda PF Micro-Rotor became the maison's commercial breakthrough, with the Pacific Blue, Slate Green, and Golden Siena dial variants particular collector targets.

The Tonda GT introduced in 2022 is the sportier expression of the PF case: GT for "Grand Tourisme", with chronograph and skeleton dial variants and a different wrist presence than the time-only PF. The Yoshida limited edition (1-of-100, in Ice Blue) is a Japanese boutique exclusive.

Other lines worth knowing include the Kalpa (tonneau-shaped, the maison's original signature case), the Toric (in production again from 2024 onwards, restored to its 1996 founding design), and historical Bugatti collaborations (transverse calibres mounted along the wrist).

What separates Parmigiani at the movement level

The calibres in current Parmigiani production are made by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier (VMF), the movement house wholly owned by the Sandoz Foundation. VMF also supplies movements to Hermès (whose minority stake is in VMF rather than Parmigiani directly) and historically to Richard Mille for selected references. This gives Parmigiani access to movement architecture that very few maisons can produce at this volume.

The calibre PF517 is the in-house manual-winding skeleton movement powering the Tonda PF Skeleton Slate Green. It carries a micro-rotor, but the rotor is hidden behind the openworked architecture. The calibre PF777 is the micro-rotor automatic in the standard Tonda PF Micro-Rotor references, including the Pacific Blue SHH limited edition.

Finishing is at haute horology level: hand-chamfered bridges with inward-angled corners (a difficult finishing technique requiring manual work, impossible to replicate by machine), hand-polished screw heads, and engine-turned (guilloche) dial textures. The Tonda PF's signature texture is the grené (grained) dial finish, applied by hand at Quadrance et Habillage.

Limited editions, including the Yoshida 1-of-100 and the Slate Green 1-of-50, carry their edition numbering on the case or movement. Verification of edition number against Parmigiani's records is part of authentication.

Buying pre-owned Parmigiani

The Parmigiani pre-owned market has developed rapidly since the Tonda PF launch. Current characteristics include high demand for Micro-Rotor references in popular dial colours (Pacific Blue, Slate Green, Golden Siena), waitlists at boutique level for new pieces, and meaningful premium-to-retail for certain limited editions on the secondary market.

Five points matter:

  • Edition numbering: Limited editions carry numbered case-back or movement engraving. Verify the number against the Parmigiani archive or boutique records.
  • Condition: Most pre-owned Parmigiani pieces are recent (post-2021). Brand-new or unworn condition is typical; signs of wear or service should match the reference's age.
  • Dial texture verification: The grené and knurled textures should be visibly hand-applied under magnification. Texture wear or replacement is detectable.
  • Full set: Original case, certificate, and boutique documentation increase value. Limited editions particularly require their original presentation.
  • Movement calibre verification: The micro-rotor and the in-house calibre identification should match the reference. Verification through the sapphire caseback is standard.

What Honeyrock holds

The current Parmigiani Fleurier selection at Honeyrock spans the Tonda PF, Tonda GT, and classic Tonda lines, with three limited editions anchoring the collection.

The Tonda PF Micro-Rotor Pacific Blue SHH Limited Edition (reference PFS914-1020004-100182) and Tonda PF Skeleton Slate Green Limited 1-of-50 (brand new condition) represent the Tonda PF line's most sought references.

The Tonda GT Ice Blue "Yoshida" Limited Edition 1-of-100 (reference PFC910) is the Japanese boutique exclusive, in the GT case with the Yoshida-developed Ice Blue dial. The Tonda Annual Calendar Chronograph 42mm (reference PFC906) brings the maison's complication craft into the selection.

The standard Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda (reference PFS915-1020001-100182, brand new) completes the line representation.

Each piece has been authenticated in-hand by Honeyrock's physician-led vetting team, with edition numbering, dial texture, and movement calibre verified before listing. For questions on specific limited edition availability or production records, the Honeyrock concierge team responds within 24 hours.
