The Story

The Craft

Where standard Tonneau references of the period were powered by ETA based calibres, the 2435E houses the Cartier Caliber 9790MC, a manual-wind movement based on a Jaeger-LeCoultre ébauche and specifically engineered as a shaped calibre to follow the curved geometry of the Tonneau case. This is not a round movement squeezed into a shaped case. It is a true tonneau-form calibre, hand-finished to CPCP standards. The dial carries the "Cartier Paris" signature beneath the brand name, the hallmark of CPCP provenance, executed with the deeper guilloché work that distinguishes Collection Privée pieces from standard production references. Blued steel sword hands and a sapphire cabochon crown complete the classical Cartier vocabulary.
